Came to Happy Talk Bar & Restaurant to see the fabulous musical duo Diane and Danny of Falling Down Romance! So glad they were playing here because we thoroughly enjoyed not only the music...but the food, service, ambiance and energy was awesome! Heck! It was so good, we came back a 2nd time before leaving the beautiful island of Kauai! Mahalo Happy Talk!

Went there for happy hour and got a great table near the garden. We ordered the tempura prawns and calamari with shishito peppers and the pulled pork sliders. Both dishes were delicious. The tempura was crispy and light with a tasty dipping sauce. I was so happy to see shishito peppers and they were yummy. The sliders came with a bbq sauce that was delicious. Our server was very attentive and had great recommendations for the appetizers. Will definitely return! The setting was picture perfect and it was easy to hear my dining companion.

It's absolutely amazing. This restaurant is inside a resort, and the valet parking is available. The scenery is calm and, of course, all Hawaiian experience. I attended 3 times this place since I got on Hawaii, and the waitress was fabulous and professional. Affordable prices, fast service, no waiting line. If you are by the area, you get to visit this place. I highly recommend this place to you.

Love this place!! Food ambience and service was all top of the line. I had the mac-but hummus. The jalapeño mango shots are delicious!! You can play Tic Tac Toe and Corn hole too.

A lovely Friday evening dinner with prime seating view for the best view of the sunset, pool, pond areas and lush tropical garden around us. We enjoy the restaurant vibe located in the Hanalei Bay Resort. The staff is attentive, gracious and friendly. The service was excellent from check-in to end of dinner. The food was delicious. We started with coconut shrimps and meatballs w/ focaccia bread. For our main course, I had the salad with shrimps added which was delicious, light and was a generous serving of greens with a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc and Richie had the chicken & fries entree with a glass of beer (make it 2 glasses of beers). No dessert this time. There is also live entertainment of different performers every night which adds to the magical Hawaiian dining experience along with the gorgeous tropical natural landscape. Mahalo. We will see you again next year!

We came to check it out again, as we have come here years ago and had a great time. Parking was packed because the restaurant is located at the Hanalei Bay Resort. The great thing was there was a valet attendant who asked us to just park our car where we were at and he would valet it for us, complimentary. That was a nice touch. Thy don't accept reservations but we just had a short wait. We were sat in the corner near the luscious garden. It was really pretty at night. They had live music when we arrived. It's from 6-9 pm. I believe they have happy hour from 3-5pm. The bar area has several tvs and looks like a cool spot to sit if you want to watch the game. The server was welcoming and helpful. She made a recommendation on what the best drinks were and we went with those. I had their rendition of a spicy margarita one and he had the whisky sour. Both were good. We shared calamari with shashido peppers, it was ok and not spicy in my opinion. I got the shrimp tacos. They were very flavorful. The salsa was spicy which I loved. The chips and guac that come with it were good too. Overall great place to enjoy to live music and food. I wish we would have sat closer to feel the vibe. It was a little too lonely in the corner.

It's very hard for me to give a 5 star anywhere, but this place was close. We arrived here after a long day at the Kilauea Lighthouse. It didn't matter to us that this restaurant was at a hotel. We were just hungry! The location itself is very pretty and even though we were sat at a bar style table, we still had a nice view of the lush grounds. The food was very good. The music was just ok, but I did love that there was an authentic Hawaiian dancer there. The service was just ok for us. Refills didn't come quick enough. I would eat here again and even though it's not a 5 star for me, I say go and give it a try if you like what's on the menu.
